7 Days Mount Kilimanjaro Climb – Machame Route

Known as the “Whiskey Route”, Machame is scenic, popular, and great for acclimatization.

The Machame Route is one of the most beautiful and successful routes to reach the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. It offers varied landscapes including rainforest, moorland, alpine desert, and glacier zones. Although more challenging than Marangu, the Machame Route provides excellent acclimatization due to its “climb high, sleep low” profile.

Begin your trek through dense rainforest with mossy trees and exotic flora.

Distance: 11 km | Duration: 5–7 hours | Habitat: Rainforest

Climb past the forest to moorland with beautiful views of the Shira Plateau.

Distance: 5 km | Duration: 4–6 hours | Habitat: Moorland
