Meet, feed, and swim with Zanzibar’s gentle marine giants
Tour Duration: 1.5 – 2 hours
Location: Baraka Natural Aquarium, Nungwi Village
Departure Time: Flexible (Best hours: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM)
Pick-up Area: Available from all areas (Stone Town, Nungwi, Kendwa, Paje, etc.)
09:00 AM – Hotel Pick-up (Optional)
Depart from your hotel with your guide/driver and head toward the northern tip of the island, Nungwi.
10:00 AM – Arrival at Baraka Natural Aquarium
Welcome to one of Zanzibar’s most loved attractions, where conservation meets adventure.
10:15 AM – Guided Introduction & Education
Begin with a brief overview of the aquarium’s mission: protecting and rehabilitating injured sea turtles, especially the endangered green turtles.
10:30 AM – Turtle Interaction Experience
- Enter the natural tidal lagoon where dozens of turtles swim freely
- Feed them seaweed by hand, guided by a local marine caretaker
- Learn how they are rescued, treated, and later released into the ocean
11:00 AM – Optional Swim with the Turtles
Put on your swimwear and take a dip in the lagoon (optional but recommended). This is a truly unforgettable moment for turtle lovers!
11:30 AM – Free Time for Photos or Souvenir Shopping
