The Lemosho Route is one of the most beautiful and less-traveled paths up Mount Kilimanjaro. With excellent acclimatization and panoramic views, it offers a higher summit success rate and an unforgettable adventure.
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) – optional transfer to your hotel in Moshi or
Arusha for rest and briefing. (Hotel not included but available on request.)
Drive from Moshi/Arusha to Londorossi Gate (approx. 3–4 hours). Complete registration and begin trekking through dense rainforest to Mti Mkubwa Camp.
Distance: 7 km | Time: 3–4 hrs | Habitat: Rainforest
Hike across moorland, crossing several streams, before reaching Shira Plateau.
Distance: 8 km | Time: 5–6 hrs | Habitat: Moorland
Gentle trek across the plateau with time to acclimatize and enjoy spectacular views.
Distance: 7 km | Time: 3–4 hrs | Habitat: Moorland
Ascend to Lava Tower for acclimatization, then descend to Barranco Camp.
Distance: 10 km | Time: 6–8 hrs | Habitat: Alpine Desert
Climb the Great Barranco Wall and trek through valleys to Karanga Camp.
Distance: 5 km | Time: 4–5 hrs | Habitat: Alpine Desert
A short but steep climb up to Barafu Camp. Early dinner and rest before summit night.
Distance: 4 km | Time: 3–4 hrs | Habitat: Alpine Desert
Start the final ascent at midnight, reaching Uhuru Peak by sunrise. Descend to Barafu for brunch, then continue down to Mweka Camp.
Distance: 15 km | Time: 12–14 hrs | Habitat: Arctic to Forest
Final descent to Mweka Gate. Collect your summit certificate and transfer back to Arusha/Moshi.
