6 Days Mount Kilimanjaro Climb – Lemosho Route

A scenic and less crowded route with high success rates.

The Lemosho Route is one of the most beautiful trails on Kilimanjaro, offering breathtaking views and a variety of landscapes. Although typically done in 7 or 8 days for better acclimatization, the 6-day option is a fast-paced trek suitable for experienced climbers with good fitness levels.

Day 1: Lemosho Gate (2,100m) – Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,820m)

Drive to the western side of Kilimanjaro and hike through lush rainforest to the first campsite.

Distance: 7 km | Duration: 3–4 hours | Habitat: Rainforest

Day 2: Mti Mkubwa – Shira 2 Camp (3,850m)

Trek across moorland to Shira Plateau with stunning views of Kibo Peak.

Distance: 16 km | Duration: 7–8 hours | Habitat: Moorland

Day 3: Shira 2 Camp – Barranco Camp (3,976m)

Ascend to Lava Tower (4,630m) for acclimatization, then descend to Barranco Camp.

Distance: 10 km | Duration: 6–7 hours | Habitat: Semi-desert

Day 4: Barranco Camp – Barafu Camp (4,673m)

Climb the Barranco Wall and traverse through Karanga Valley to reach Barafu Camp.

Distance: 9 km | Duration: 8–9 hours

Day 5: Barafu Camp – Uhuru Peak (5,895m) – Mweka Camp (3,100m)

Start your summit attempt at midnight, reach Uhuru Peak at sunrise, then descend to Mweka Camp.

Distance: 17 km | Duration: 12–14 hours

Day 6: Mweka Camp – Mweka Gate – Transfer to Moshi/Arusha

Final descent through rainforest to the gate. Receive your summit certificate and transfer to your hotel.

Distance: 10 km | Duration: 3–4 hours
