6 Days Mount Kilimanjaro Climb – Marangu Route

The “Coca-Cola Route” – the only route with hut accommodation.

The Marangu Route is the oldest and most established trail to the summit. It is considered one of the easiest paths due to its gradual slope and comfortable mountain huts, making it a popular choice for first-time climbers.

Day 1: Marangu Gate (1,870m) – Mandara Hut (2,700m)

Begin your hike through lush rainforest to Mandara Hut.

Distance: 8 km | Duration: 3–4 hours | Habitat: Rainforest

Day 2: Mandara Hut – Horombo Hut (3,720m)

Trek through moorland enjoying views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks.

Distance: 12 km | Duration: 5–6 hours | Habitat: Moorland

Day 3: Horombo Hut – Acclimatization Day

Spend an extra day at Horombo Hut to acclimatize. Optional hike to Zebra Rocks (3,980m).

Duration: 4–5 hours | Habitat: Moorland

Day 4: Horombo Hut – Kibo Hut (4,703m)

Ascend to the high-altitude desert zone on your way to base camp at Kibo Hut.

Distance: 10 km | Duration: 5–6 hours | Habitat: Alpine desert

Day 5: Kibo Hut – Uhuru Peak (5,895m) – Horombo Hut (3,720m)

Start your summit attempt at midnight, reach the peak at sunrise, then descend to Horombo Hut.

Distance: 21 km | Duration: 12–14 hours

Day 6: Horombo Hut – Marangu Gate – Transfer to Moshi/Arusha

Descend through the forest trail and return to your hotel.

Distance: 18 km | Duration: 5–6 hours
